We're bringing back our Litcal

More than a few years ago, we launched a website called denverpoetry.org, a site that, essentially, mirrored the service provided through the Litcal listserv maintained at the University of Colorado at Boulder. We maintained this site for a few years, trying to maintain a niche between Litcal, Bryan Roth's Colorado Poets Association, and Bob King's Colorado Poets Center.

We had hoped that a centralized location for information would encourage more mutual recognition among the many literary communities in Denver. Instead, information sites sprang up everywhere, with little mutual recognition, and it seemed that a moment had passed in Denver. And when the business of running Copper Nickel got more complicated, we found ourselves spread too thin. We quit running the site and concentrated on our core mission, to develop and maintain a quality literary publication.

Over the last few years, Copper Nickel has grown significantly, and though there's still a lot of room for growth, we're feeling a little more grown up, a little steadier on our stilts, and we're inspired again by the possibilities of community connections in Denver. So we're renewing our own Litcal service, to help broadcast the information compiled by Laura Wright and so many others in our community, in the hopes of drawing those communities together.

As of this writing, the redesign and relaunch of the site is expected to take several days, but by October 1st, this service should be up and running again, at least as good as it ever was.
