SUBMIT
The Copper Nickel accepts submissions of short fiction, poetry, essays, short plays, prose poems and other written experiments.
Any written material should be submitted by e-mail, in MSWord or RTF (rich text format) files.
Poems, prose poems, and the like should go to the (click for e-mail address).
Fiction, of any sort, should go to the (click for e-mail address). We will consider stories or novel excerpts up to 8,000 words without a preceding query, though we rarely publish a story longer than 5,000 words.
Anything else, including creative non-fiction, should go to the (click for e-mail address).
- Please limit submissions to five poems or a single piece of prose.
- Please begin the subject of your e-mail with the word SUBMISSION.
- And, please, please, please, indicate if yours is a simultaneous submission.
Written submissions will not be accepted by snail mail.
Include your name, e-mail address, and phone number on all submissions.
We respond to submissions as quickly as possible. During February, March, April, May, September, October, and November, we can usually respond in 4-6 weeks. During January, June, July, August, and December, response time varies up to 12 weeks.
Once your submission is received, an editor will write you and tell you when to expect a reply. If you feel we have forgotten you, please write us to query the status of your submission.
More and more often users of hotmail, yahoo, and earthlink e-mail accounts are finding our replies in their junk or bulk mail folders, so check those for replies as well.
